Firefighters in Los Angeles are battling a large blaze on the sixth floor of a 25-storey residential building, amid reports some people were forced to jump to escape.
A tweet from the city's fire department said: "PRELIM: 25 story residential high-rise with well-developed fire on the 6th floor. Persons (number undetermined) have reportedly jumped from that or nearby floors."
Images and footage from the scene showed a man clinging to the side of the building and a large inflatable crash mat on the ground.
Emergency services received reports of a fire shortly after 8.30am at the building in the 11700 block of Wilshire Boulevard in the Sawtelle neighbourhood.
